The San Diego Festival of Books is a celebration of reading and writing and the important role they play in our lives and our communities. Our goal is to provide a place where readers and authors can connect to share stories, ideas, and enthusiasm for the traditions, culture and values of the written word.

The San Diego Union-Tribune is proud to announce the inaugural San Diego Festival of Books. The festival will feature over 40 local published authors participating in discussions and book signings. In addition, the festival will include live entertainment, merchant vendors, a dedicated Children’s Pavilion and a variety of other programs.
Built from the success and learnings of the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books and the Chicago Tribune Printers Row Lit Fest, this first year’s event will be a great kick-off for a more robust event in years to come.
Book festival attendees will include a diverse mix of people that reflect the special nature of San Diego. However diverse these groups, their passion for books, reading and writing will be a unifying factor.
